Attractions Ontario was founded in 1983 when a group of attractions recognized that they work better as a collective and the importance of the attractions sector to tourism was often overlooked. From those humble beginnings, Attractions Ontario has grown and prospered as a marketing and advocacy organization.

The Calgary Attraction consortium started over 30 year ago with just four attractions. Since then it has grown to 10 of Calgary's attractions who are all wanting to work together and help drive tourism to Calgary. Destination Northern Ontario is an organization formed at the direction of the northern Ontario tourism industry and funded by the Ministry of Tourism, Culture and Sport. There was a clear message from tourism businesses in the North that a pan-northern organization was needed to lead economic growth in tourism for the region.

Ontario’s Highlands Tourism Organization (OHTO) is one of 13 Regional Tourism Organizations (RTO) created by the Ontario Government as a means to more effectively coordinate tourism development efforts and increase visitation to the Province. OHTO was founded in 2010 and operates as a not-for-profit organization, governed by an industry-led Board of Directors.
OHTO’s mandate is to build and support a competitive tourism region, known as Ontario’s Highlands, through marketing and product development. OHTO functions in partnership with established and recognized tourism organizations, municipalities and entities within the region to move forward in a spirit of cooperation and collaboration.
